Abstract

Celebrating the 40 years of CAGE-Campanha Nacional de Formação de Geólogos, a historical retrospective is presented since begining of Rio de Janeiro undergraduate course in geology. The achievements and its importance on technological and scientific brazilian earth sciences community are commented. Despite a vigorous past, there are difficulties at present, mainly as a result of staff decreasing. The foundation of College of Geology was already approved by Conselho Universitários and must be carried out in order to ransom the past.
