History

Oecologia Brasiliensis was created in 1995 by the initiative of Prof. Dr Francisco de Assis Esteves as a periodical that had the main objective to increase the publicizing of the results produced by the research carried in the Postgraduate Programmes in Ecology. Nine issues were published until 2001, when the journal publishing was interrupted. The publishing of Oecologia Brasiliensis was resumed as a journal with a new editorial board and a new editorial structure in 2006. The new aim of Oecologia Brasiliensis after 2006 was to publish synthesis and reviews and special issues about varied topics in Ecology and its related areas.

Since 2007 Oecologia Brasiliensis became trimestral, a periodicity that has been maintained ever since. In 2008 reviewers of language in Portuguese, Spanish and English joined the team of assistant editors of Oecologia Brasiliensis, with the objective to guarantee the quality of the publications in the three languages.

Peer Review Process

We adopted the double-blind Peer Review system, where authors and reviewers do not know the identity of each other, unless it is the desire of both parties. Each review process is done by at least two reviewers. In case of conflicting opinions, the responsible editor decides if the manuscript goes over another reviewer or emits a final position on the manuscript.
