Neste trabalho, apresenta-se uma tradução anotada da Pítica 2 de Píndaro, epinício composto para celebrar uma vitória do tirano Hierão de Siracusa na quadriga. Na introdução, discute-se a polêmica em torno da datação da ode, controvertida desde a antiguidade, e reaquecida há dois séculos por Boeckh (1821), além de considerações sobre a estrutura do poema e dos critérios que nortearam sua tradução para o português brasileiro. O poema traduzido é municiado de notas explicativas que buscam dar conta das dificuldades textuais do original grego e fornecer informações históricas, mitológicas e literárias relevantes para a interpretação do epinício.
