O Criticismo Literário de Horácio tradução da carta II.1 a Augusto

Resumo

Neste trabalho, apresentamos uma tradução das cartas do livro II, 1 escritas por Horácio e endereçadas a Augusto, o princeps romanus. A proposta estrutural consiste em apresentar primeiramente o texto latino para depois elucidar com a devida tradução para o vernáculo, concedendo comentários em notas. Nas epístolas de Horácio, entendemos que criticismo literário do poeta é expresso a partir de conselhos e reflexões atinentes à prática da escrita, à arte da poesia e à crítica literária em si. Essas epístolas oferecem uma visão técnica nas quais o poeta se posiciona como um crítico literário, exercendo um papel que se encaixa como um verdadeiro filósofo da literatura, ou seja, um pensador da poiesis.

Biografia do Autor

Lucas Amaya, Universidade Federal do Rio de janeiro

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Classical Letters from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) in 2009. The curriculum of my academic program was comprehensive, covering Latin Language, Classical Literature, Ancient History, Linguistics, and Pedagogy. I obtained a Certificate in Teaching Latin Language and Literature and Portuguese Language from UERJ in 2010 to further my education. Subsequently, I earned my Master's degree in 2014 and earned a Doctorate with honours in 2019 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). It is worth noting that my doctoral degree received full recognition from the Universidade de Lisboa in 2022.During my doctoral studies, I was honoured with the Litterae Humaniores as the PhD student with most activities and outcomes between 2015 and 2016. Due to that prize, I was privileged to be a Visiting Scholar at the University of Exeter from 2017 to 2018. The opportunity was financed by CAPES (Federal Brazilian Agency) through a Slip Site Program - Programa de Doutorado Sanduíche no Exterior. During my stay, I delivered four papers at prestigious academic institutions such as the University of Leeds, the University of Newcastle, and the University of Exeter. In addition to my teaching endeavours, I have contributed significantly to Brazilian Academia by publishing over ten articles in esteemed academic journals and the authorship of three book chapters from 2014 to 2024. During that time, I have also presented more than thirty papers, including seminars and panels at international events in Brazil and abroad. My scholarly pursuits have recently led me to accept a prestigious fellow researcher position at the University of Durham, where I engaged in a research project investigating Dictaminal books within manuscripts preserved in the Durham Priory's Library. During that research, I found new evidence of the reception of the Classics and the role of letter-writing in Western Europe's societal and educational development in the late Middle Ages. I have also built a considerable teaching portfolio. My pedagogical journey began in 2012, teaching Latin Language and Literature, Classical Culture, and Ancient History at the undergraduate level. I have held instructional roles at several institutions, beginning at UERJ from 2013-2014 and 2016-2017, and then again in 2022. I also have been teaching Latin Language and Literature at the undergraduate level in UFRJ from 2014-2016 and 2019-2020, and now 2023-2024, and lastly, at the University of Brasilia in 2022. At Centro Universitário Celso Lisboa, I expanded my instructional repertoire to include courses in Romance Philology, Historical Morphosyntax, and the History of Western Literature from 2019-2021. During all this time, I have also worked as an Educational Designer, producing pedagogical material at the undergraduate level, and mentored several final papers in multidisciplinary studies. Lastly, it is worth noting that I have been approved eight times in public contests for the position of temporary lecturer in several universities in Brazil and twice for the position of permanent teacher. My research portfolio is firmly anchored in Ancient and Medieval Epistolography in Latin, Letter-writing treatises, Classics Reception in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and Manuscript culture from the Middle Ages.
