Abstract

Amongst several raised issues, in addition to exposing the names of photographers, studios and companies that were pioneers in the trade of services and supplies for photography in the modern capital of Minas Gerais, this paper investigates the demands of professionals and amateurs who promoted a certain diffusion of the image and photographic practice in this society. Finally, related questions to the city’s photography social circuit and spatial location will be addressed, exposing the process of structuring and organizing the photography culture in this city as well in Minas Gerais, one of the most influential states in Brazil.
