'Pinta pra ficar bonito': O caráter agentivo da pintura corporal Canela

Abstract

Abordagem sobre a agência dos padrões de pintura corporal Canela. A
prática de pintar corpos foi observada durante o ritual Ketuwajê (ritual de iniciação), o que possibilitou a análise da pintura como uma prática que se insere no processo de fabricação do corpo Canela. Analiso tal prática como uma forma de relacionamento com a alteridade, que ocorre através da incorporação daquilo que o outro tem de melhor a oferecer na construção de corpos bonitos, identificando como, entre os Canelas, a ideia de bonito está articulada à ideia de bem-estar.

'One paints oneself to look good': The agentive role of the Canela body painting

This is an approach to the agency of the patterns of the Canela body painting. The practice of painting bodies was observed during the Ketuwajê ritual (initiation ritual), which enabled the analysis of the painting as a practice that takes part in the construction of the Canela body. I analyze this practice as a way of relating to otherness, which occurs through the incorporation of what the other (animal/ plant) has as their best to offer for building beautiful bodies. I also identify how the idea of beauty is linked to the idea of well-being among the Canela.
