ENTRE CERVOS, ODIN E SIGURD: SIMBOLISMOS RELIGIOSOS EM MOEDAS DANESAS DA ERA VIKING

O artigo tem como principal objetivo o estudo dos simbolismos religiosos, figurativos e geométricos, constantes em moedas produzidas nas cidades de Ribe e Hedeby durante o século IX d.C. Como escopo conceitual adotamos os estudos de John E. Robb e Michel Pastoreau sobre símbolo, a metodologia visual de Jill Bradley e diversas publicações numismáticas aplicadas à Escandinávia da Era Viking, bem como estudos que desenvolvemos sobre simbologia nórdica. Nossa principal conclusão é que os símbolos animais e geométricos foram utilizados como forma de difusão de uma autoridade político-econômica, respaldada por imagens do paganismo nórdico (especialmente simbolismos do cervo, Odin e Sigurd).
