Résumé

The footwear industry discards residues in its most diverse phases of production, the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate
(EVA) being one of them. This work proposes an evaluation of the use of EVA’s residue discarded by the
footwear industry of Campina Grande city in asphalt mixtures. The modified asphalt binder was characterized
by penetration test, softening point, and rotational viscosity. The asphalt mixture was prepared through
the SUPERPAVE methodology. The EVA’s residue incorporated to Petroleum Asphalt Cement (CAP)
through the wet process in percentages of 0, 2, 3, 4 and 5 % in mass. Among the asphalt mixtures analyzed,
the mixtures that contain 2% of EVA residue and 3 hours of aging were the most important, as they met the
minimum criteria for Resistance to induced moisture damage (Lottman). The results show that EVA`s residues
are an effective alternative for use in asphalt paving.
