Abstract
In this paper the use of statements in the form of slogan in the novel The Master and Margarita is analyzed in order to argue at one the same time against its commonplace interpretation, which associates Bulgakov's oeuvre with his life in a thoughtless way, and for the intricacy of Bulga-kov's position towards revolution. This article investigate the connection between literature and power based on the conception of language as a weapon and literature as an apparatus of a sys-tem. By developing this line of argument, Sper-idião's work Fora [Out], which explicitly quotes the most famous of the novel's statements, is both an inspiration and an invitation to comparative research.
