Rhetoric and Philosophy in Horace's Epistles

In this article, we discuss some aspects of rhetoric and philosophy in the work Epistles of Horace. According to the education received by Romans and the way of conceive the literary artifact in the first century BC, we sought to demonstrate that in this book Horace used the deliberative speech to compose the scenography of his poems and also that the persona constructed by Horace can be seen as that of a poet-philosopher.
