This work integrates the thematic theme that has been developed in the last biennium by the research group Studies on the Ancient Theater of the FFLCH-USP: “Characterization of the character in the Greco-Roman theater”. The scope here is to scrutinize the characterization of Andromache and Hermione in the agon performed by those characters in Euripides’ play Andromache. In this way, we start from a brief analysis of how the protagonist of Euripides’ play is approached by Hector in the Book VI of the Iliad and about her moment in Trojan Women. It is hoped from these passages that we can better delineate the central figure of the Andromache tragedy, comparing her with Hermione in the agon. The proposal around Neoptolemus’ two wives in Euripides is primarily to investigate how each of them deals with questions concerning the values of the female Greek aristocracy according to their present condition.
