Objectives and Editorial Policy
The Anuário do Instituto de Geociências (AIGEO) is an official publication of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Center for Mathematical and Nature Sciences (CCMN), Institute of Geosciences (IGEO). The Journal aims to stimulate and publish original scientific research in Geology, Geography, Meteorology, Oceanography, Archaeology, Geophysics, Geodesy, and other areas of Environmental Sciences related to Geosciences.
Peer Review Process
B. After the review rounds are completed, the accepted papers are forwarded to the Text Editor, who will review the manuscript and indicate to the corresponding author the editorial recommendations (in notes in the manuscript itself).
Publication Frequency
Continuous publication. As soon as an article is ready to be published, it is immediately released online rather than waiting for other articles in the issue to be completed.
Open Access Policy
All articles which are published by Anuário do Instituto de Geociências are immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download.

Journal History
The Anuário do Instituto de Geociências [eISSN 1982-3908] is a peer-reviewed Brazilian Journal from the Institute of Geosciences (IGEO), published since 1977 by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). From 1977 to 2004, the Anuário do Instituto de Geociências was published as an annual volume. From 2005 to 2015, it was semestrial and from 2016 to 2018, quadrimestral. In 2019 and 2020 the Journal turned to trimestral. Since 2021 the Journal is being published continually online.
The Anuário do Instituto de Geociências, has published syntheses of the academic production of the Geosciences Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and also of brazilian and foreign geoscientists. The wide variety of topics is due to the nature of our institution, where research in Geology, Geography, Meteorology and Oceanography fields is developed.
All papers published since 1977 are fully available on line. Anuário do Instituto de Geociências publishes original scientific contributions covering Geology, Geography, Meteorology, Oceanography and many Environmental issues related to Geosciences fields.
