Notas sobre a Organização Espacial da Pecuária no Brasil

Abstract

As the initial part of a large project, this paper deals with the importanceof cattleraising in southeast, west and northern Brazil. Analysing quantitative and qualitative aspects of the activity as well as its variationin time, it presents a tipology of cattleraising areas according to its production value and density. The spatial pattern of the activity fo1lowsVon Thunen's model near the metropolitan centers but there is a hugearea in Amazonia where empty pastures indicates that land apeculationand not markets commands the spatial organization of cattleraising.
