The study of the metamorphism of Proterozoic units of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero is revisited in terms of the historical evolution and the application of the carbonate geothermometry method. Previous work indicates an eastward increase of the metamorphic grade and the relative distribuition of the chlorite, biotite, kyanite and staurolite zones. Oxygen isotope and carbonate geothermometry values corroborate previous investigations. Microprobe analysis of coexisting calcite and dolomite indicate attainment of exchange equilibrium for samples of Aguas Claras, Morro Agudo mines and Dom Bosco area. Temperatures of equilibrium obtained from calcite-dolomite pairs range from 283ºC to 547º.Downloads
