Abstract

This paper presents a geological and geotechnical characterization of a large scale landslide in Prainha region, Rio de Janeiro. It has been identified in the region structural and lithological conditions favorable to landslide, as release joints, spaced fractures and strong chemical weathering process, respectively. The results and conclusions were obtained from fieldwork, structural and petrographic (macro and microscopic) analyses.
