Abstract

The main goal of this article is to cause reflection about the relation between ethics, clinical psychology and phenomenology in contemporary Brazilian psychology. Therefore, we will take as a guide the fundamental principles from Psychology’s Professional Ethics Code, from 1987, year that its elementary assumptions went towards to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights guidelines. So, we´ll try to show the implications that the new code brings to clinical psychology as it’s practiced in Brazil, since it challenges the heart of the naturalistic foundation that used to take place until then. At last, we aim to briefly present how could such variation from Edmund Husserl's Phenomenology, that gave origin Martin Heidegger´s notion of existence, enable us to answer the problems that came along with the new guidelines. This, by allowing us other foundation, can reinsert the clinical work of psychology, attuned to the new ethical principles.
