Abstract

My aim, in this particular paper, is to exame Philoponus of Alexandria's critics on aristotelian theses of a world divided in two distinct realms, celestial and terrestrial, both filled with distinct materials and governed by distinct laws. I also intend to treat Philoponus defense of a world uniform in matter, and the reception of such thesis in Early Modern Philosophy.
