From concept to definition: on the term "drawing" in André Félibien

Resumo

O presente artigo é um trabalho historiográfico com empréstimos da terminologia. A análise das obras de André Félibien sugere que as reflexões sobre o desenho levaram o autor a realizar uma síntese conceitual e, posteriormente, a elaborar uma definição do termo. Inicialmente usada no campo artístico, no século posterior a sua morte a definição foi absorvida em forma de exemplos pelos dicionários de língua.

Abstract

This article is a historiographical work with borrowings from Terminology. The analysis of André Félibien’s works suggests that the reflections on drawing led the author to carry out a conceptual synthesis and, later, to elaborate a definition of the term. Initially used in the artistic field, in the century after his death the definition was absorbed in the form of examples by language dictionaries.
