“If there were no sea nor love...”: Marguerite Duras’ writing as a dam against the “Thing”

Resumen

Primeiramente, o trabalho busca afirmar um campo de interlocução entre a psicanálise e a literatura, particularmente sobre a escrita de Marguerite Duras. Temos como objetivo refletir sobre as particularidades do Édipo feminino, ressaltando um período mais remoto e anterior ao próprio Édipo, a relação pré-edipiana da menina com sua mãe. Assim, discutiremos a questão da relação mãe e filha de acordo com Sigmund Freud e Jacques Lacan para abordarmos a temática do incesto, o qual se apresenta como o núcleo da vida  desejante do sujeito. Faz-se notável a insistência imperiosa do mar na obra de Marguerite Duras, evocando esse gozo devastador, a partir do qual se insinua a Coisa (das Ding), nomeadamente o objeto incestuoso. Para além de uma reivindicação fálica, a relação mãe e filha - da qual o parceiro amoroso se torna um herdeiro – faz a mulher se deparar com esse gozo sem limites, incestuoso, que encontra no mar uma representação extraordinária deste absoluto.

Abstract
Firstly, the work seeks to establish a field of dialogue between psychoanalysis and literature, particularly regarding Marguerite Duras’ writing. We aim to reflect on the particularities of female Oedipus, highlighting a more remote period prior to Oedipus himself, the girl's pre-Oedipal relationship with her mother. Thus, we will discuss the issue of the mother and daughter relationship according to Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan to delve into the theme of incest, which presents itself as the core of the subject's desiring life. The imperious insistence of the sea in the work of Marguerite Duras is notable, evoking this devastating enjoyment, from which the Thing (das Ding) insinuates itself, namely the incestuous object. In addition to a phallic claim, the mother-daughter relationship - in which the loving partner becomes an heir - makes the woman come across this limitless, incestuous enjoyment, which finds in the sea an extraordinary representation of this absolute.
