Abstract

This paper intendts to analise Fernando Namora’s 1954 novel called O Trigo e o Joio, based on the methodology derrived from Animal Studies. Concepts linked to this emerging discipline can allow us to investigate (inter)relationships between human and non-human protagonists, show power relations and, also, indicate posssible exits of the opressive reality portrayed in the novel Alentejo region.
