Abstract

This article aims to present some theoretical-analytical considerations motivated by a corpus made up of articles circulating on the electronic network about fake news disseminated in the days following the presidential elections in Brazil, after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's victory at the polls was announced, at the end of October 2022. In an apparent reaction to the circulation of fake news aimed at boosting far-right speeches in the country, the fake news mentioned here – named in the media as “fake news pegadinha”, “fake news Bolsonaristas” or “fake news made by the left” – produce denunciation effects about the way in which fake news finds rapid circulation in Brazil, notably since the campaign period for the 2018 presidential elections. From the Pecheutian theoretical-methodological perspective of discourse analysis, this proposal aims to contribute to reflections regarding disputes over meanings in the electronic network, as well as to think about the functioning of resistance in the practices of producing journalistic events that guide the Brazilian political scene.
