Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • URLs for referrals have been provided when possible. Include DOi in the references, when applicable.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; uses italics instead of underlining (except for URL addresses); Figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors on the About the Journal section.
  • In case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (e.g., articles), the instructions available in Ensuring blind peer review were followed.
  • All submitted papers from January 1st 2024, in case of approval, will be published in a second language. It is up to the authors to provide a qualified translation of the approved manuscript. The journal may indicate professionals for the translation. For articles submitted in Portuguese, the second language is English; for articles submitted in English, the second language is Portuguese; and for articles submitted in Spanish, the second language is English. UNTIL 12/31/2023 THE AUTHORS ARE ALLOWED TO PUBLISH THE PAPER IN A SECOND LANGUAGE.

Author Guidelines

STANDARDS FOR ARTICLES

SOCIETY, ACCOUNTING AND MANAGEMENT JOURNAL

  1. The articles must be unpublished and must not be undergoing evaluation in another national or international journal. Articles published in Annals of Events will be considered unpublished for publication in the SCG Journal. However, in this case, the authors must inform the name of the event and the year of publication of the article in the letter to the editor.
  2. The articles will undergo analysis with anti-plagiarism software during editorial stages.
  3. Articles in Portuguese, English, or Spanish will be accepted
  4. Articles must have, in general terms, the following structure: introduction, theoretical foundation, methodology, results, conclusions, references, and annexes and appendices.
  5. The details of the entire editorial process are described in the Editorial Process Manual, available on the journal's website.
  6. The submission must be made through the following electronic address: https://revistas.ufrj.br/index.php/scg
  7. Authors must send three files: the first with the full text of the article without any identification (including in the document properties); the second, a cover letter with the authors' information; and the third, a letter to the editor, presenting the article and describing reasons for the SCG Journal to publish it. The first file (file 01) must be sent as the main document and the second (file 02) and the third (file 03) as supplementary documents.
  8. The full text of the article (file 01) must comply with the following guidelines:
    • 8.1.   Articles in Portuguese or Spanish must include title, abstract and keywords also in English.
    • 8.2.   Articles written in English must include title, abstract and keywords also in Portuguese.
    • 8.3.   The abstract must be between 200 and 300 words.
    • 8.4.  Please, use APA standards.
    • 8.4.1. The font should be Times 12 and have up to 12,000 words, including illustrations, references, endnotes, annexes and appendices.
    • 8.4.2. A4 paper with margins: top and left = 3 cm - bottom and right = 2 cm.
    • 8.4.3. Single spacing (between characters, words and lines), justified and with a 1.25 cm indent on the first line of each paragraph.
    • 8.4.4. Citations, charts, tables, figures, and references at the end of the text must follow the APA Format. A manual with guidelines is provisionally available here
    • 8.4.5. All illustrations (table, chart, equation) must be editable in the body of the text, however in the case of graphs and figures they must appear in the file as an image.
    • 8.4.6. Keywords should be separated by semicolons, with 3 to 5 keywords.
  9. In the second file (file 02), after the title, the authors' information must appear: name, title (including training institution), position and institutional affiliation, full address, email, also ORCID and must update their registration on the journal's website. Each article can only have up to 4 authors.
  10. In the letter to the editor (file 03) the authors must suggest the research area in which their submission should be framed. However, authors should be aware that this definition is ultimately up to the editor. 
  11. The SCG Journal does not charge any fee for the submission or editing of articles.

  13. If the authors want to add information about the funding institution, they must do so in the Comments to the Editor on the website.
