This study aimed to evaluate whether radical behaviorism can contribute to the search for a response of how the influence of management control systems on the employees’ behavior occurs. Studies on management control systems (MCS) have demonstrated an active role of the same in organizations and the view that the MCS has as its sole purpose to assist in the decision-making process has already been overcome by literature. Recent studies confirm the ability of the MCS to influence behavior, but there are gaps that are not filled. It is still not possible to state that management control systems are only stimuli that direct the desired behaviors or if they act, for example, as a strengthening of the consequences generated by a behavior issued so that it occurs again. Such explanations can be given by radical behaviorism and the concept of operative behavior. Therefore, with the methodology of a theoretical essay and bibliographic research, this study points to reflections on the subject and concludes that radical behaviorism may explain the phenomenon pointed out, but empirical studies are necessary.
