CORRIDA DE RUA NO PAÍS DO FUTEBOL

Resumo

Resumo: Na década de 1970 se iniciou a construção histórica da corrida de rua no Brasil, com os sentidos, formatos e proporções atuais. Embora vários fatores tenham concorrido simultaneamente para a situação, o nome e as ideias de Kenneth Cooper ficariam fortemente associados à memória social da difusão deste hábito no Brasil. O objetivo deste artigo é reconstituir e analisar essa história. Ao invés de confinar as explicações sobre este processo às ações de um único homem, o propósito geral é o de inseri-lo no contexto social e cultural mais geral da época. Transformações na estrutura ocupacional, novas percepções desencadeadas pela rápida urbanização, políticas governamentais para o incentivo de práticas esportivas, oportunidades oferecidas para divulgação de novos métodos de treinamento físico pela cobertura jornalística do futebol brasileiro e novos paradigmas médicos, podem ser apontadas como causas sociais e culturais mais gerais desse processo histórico.

Jogging in the Country of Football

 Abstract: In the 1970s began the historical construction of the jogging in Brazil, with the senses, shapes and current proportions. Although several factors have contributed to the situation, the name and ideas of the Kenneth Cooper would be strongly associated with social memory of the spread of this habit in Brazil. The purpose of this article is to analyze this history. Instead of confining the explanations of this process to the actions and ideas of Cooper, the general purpose is to insert it into the social and cultural context more general of the Age. Changes in the occupational structure, new perceptions triggered by rapid urbanization, government policies for sports, opportunities for dissemination of new methods of physical training for media coverage of Brazilian football team, and new medical paradigms, can be identified as more general social and cultural causes of this historical process.
