“CONTRA LA OLIMPÍADA HITLERISTA”: LA PARTICIPACIÓN ARGENTINA EN LOS JUEGOS OLÍMPICOS NAZIS Y EL FALLIDO INTENTO PARA BOICOTEARLA

Resumo

Resumen: La bibliografía disponible sobre los Juegos Olímpicos de 1936 organizados por la Alemania nazi se ha centrado casi exclusivamente en los esfuerzos norteamericanos y europeos para boicotearlos así como en su participación en Berlín. Este artículo explora la historia de la conformación de la delegación argentina al evento. Se trata de una historia que pone de manifiesto un complejo entramado de intereses y objetivos que involucró a múltiples actores dentro y fuera de Argentina. Este artículo establece que la conformación de la delegación fue dificultosa y que la misma fue acompañada por una fallida campaña para boicotearla.

Resumo: A bibliografia disponível sobre os Jogos Olímpicos de 1936 organizados pela Alemanha nazista está centrada quase que exclusivamente nos esforços norte-americanos e europeus em boicotá-los, assim como em sua participação em Berlim. Este artigo explora a história da conformação da delegação argentina no evento. É uma história que ilumina uma complexa rede de interesses e objetivos que envolvem múltiplos atores dentro e fora da Argentina. Este artigo estabelece que a conformação da delegação foi difícil e que a mesma foi acompanhada por uma campanha que fracassou em boicotá-la.

“Against Hitler's Olympics”: The Argentine Participation in the Nazi Olympic Games and the Failed Attempt to Boycott It.

Abstract: The bibliography available on the 1936 Olympic Games organized by Nazi Germany has focused almost exclusively on the North American and European boycott efforts as well as their participation in Berlin. This article explores the history of the formation of the Argentine delegation to the event. It is a history that brings to light a complex web of interests and goals that involved multiple actors within and outside Argentina. This article establishes that the formation of the delegation was not only troublesome but also accompanied by a failed campaign to boycott it.
