AS ESTATÍSTICAS DE FUTEBOL COMO FONTE DE PESQUISA: O CASO DO “CIRCUITO CLUBÍSTICO” BELO-HORIZONTINO

Resumo: As estatísticas de futebol são amplamente disseminadas, acessadas e comentadas entre os militantes e os apaixonados dessa modalidade esportiva no Brasil. Apesar disso, o seu uso ainda permanece pouco difundido pelas pesquisas sobre futebol no âmbito das Ciências Humanas e, particularmente, da História. Esse artigo nasce, assim, do reconhecimento de que é preciso problematizar algumas das potencialidades, e também certos limites, em se utilizar essas estatísticas como fonte para se escrever as Histórias do Futebol no país. Para tanto, demonstrar-se-á como essas informações possibilitam, dentre outras questões, traçar a história dos “circuitos das disputas futebolísticas” brasileiras, evidenciando, sobretudo, a distribuição hierárquica dos “clubismos” em Belo Horizonte.

Football statistics as a research source: the case of belo-horizontino’s “club circuit”

Abstract: Football statistics are widely disseminated, accessed and commented on among the militants and those in love with the sport in Brazil. Nevertheless, their use still remains limited by the research on football in the context of Human Sciences and, particularly, History. This article thus emerges from the recognition that it is necessary to problematize some of the potentialities, and also certain limits, in using these statistics as a source to write the country’s History of Football. Therefore, it will be shown how such information makes it possible, among other questions, to trace the history of the Brazilian "circuits of football disputes", evidencing, above all, the hierarchical distribution of "clubismos" (factionalism = facciosismo) in Belo Horizonte.
