PROFISSIONALISMO "MARROM" DO FUTEBOL E A IMPRENSA PAULISTA (1920-1930)

Resumo

Resumo: Neste ensaio descrevemos o processo histórico que culminou com a profissionalização do futebol em São Paulo a partir da mídia impressa dos anos de 1920 e 1930. Tivemos como objetivo identificar o posicionamento da mídia paulista sobre a profissionalização. Para isso, realizamos uma pesquisa histórica e documental sobre o tema nos periódicos paulistas de maior circulação, e o comparamos com a literatura especializada. Concluímos que o desencadeador do processo de profissionalização do futebol em São Paulo foi a disputa entre os clubes para a formação de equipes mais competitivas, e a ameaça de êxodo dos melhores jogadores para outros mercado esportivos.

INGLORIOUS PROFESSIONALISM AND THE PRESS IN SÃO PAULO (1920´S AND 1930´S)

Abstract: This study describes the historical process that led to the professionalization of soccer in São Paulo from the print media of 1920´s and 1930´s. Our objective was to identify the positioning of the media about the professionalization of soccer in city. For this, we conducted a historical research in the newspapers of largest circulation, and compared with the literature. We conclude that the triggering of the process of professionalization of soccer in São Paulo was the dispute between the clubs to form teams more competitive, and the threat of losing the most players to other countries.
