É SÓ UM JOGO, PELO MENOS POR ENQUANTO. A SEMIFINAL DE PÓLO AQUÁTICO HUNGRIA X URSS NAS OLIMPÍADAS DE MELBOURNE E O CONTEXTO POLÍTICO HÚNGARO EM 1956

Resumo

Resumo: A presente resenha crítica busca analisar o filme "Children of Glory" em seus diversos aspectos: drama, contextualização histórica e geopolítica, além da importância do Pólo aquático como elemento de identificação nacional húngaro durante os Jogos Olímpicos disputados em Melbourne em 1956. Informações gerais sobre esse esporte também são fornecidas visto que se trata de uma modalidade pouco conhecida no Brasil. A relação memória/nação/esporte pode ser encontrada no interessante roteiro, que apesar de ser uma ficção, tem como pano de fundo, acontecimentos reais ocorridos na Hungria e durante a disputa nas piscinas australianas.

IT´S JUST A GAME. AT LEAST, UNTIL NOW: THE HUNGARY - U.S.S.R. WATER POLO SEMIFINAL IN THE MELBOURNE OLYMPIC GAMES AND THE HUNGARIAN POLITICAL CONTEXT IN 1956

Abstract: The present film review aims at analyzing the film "Children of Glory" on its several aspects: drama, geopolitical and historical context, besides the importance of water polo as an element of Hungarian national identification during the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. General information about that sport are also given respecting the fact that this modality is not well known in Brazil. The relation between memory/nation/sport may be found in the interesting script, which beyond the fact of being a fiction, has as a scenery with real events that happened both in Hungary and during the dispute in the Australian swimming pools.
