Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Manuscripts must be original and not published or submitted elsewhere.
    2. Articles by more than one author are not accepted.
    3. Authors are solely responsible for the content and grammatical accuracy of the manuscripts.
    4. Authors are solely responsible for the content of the articles and the use of images
    and materials protected by copyright.
    5. Authors undertake to respond to the editors’ requests concerning the manuscript and the images whenever requested, meeting any deadlines set.
    6. Manuscripts must comply with the stylistic and bibliographic guidelines set forth in the  Author Guidelines section of the journal’s website.

    7. All authors who submit articles or reviews must include their ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). ORCID registration webpage:  https://orcid.org/.  After obtaining an ORCID ID, authors must access their registration details on the journal website using their login and password and include this information in the appropriate fields.

    Note that there are two fields: one for the ORCID ID (number) and one for the URL.
    Both fields must be filled out.

    8. An interval of two years must be observed between submissions by the same author.
    9. The Journal only evaluates submissions from postgraduates with a master's or a doctoral degree.

Author Guidelines

arte e ensaios accepts submissions free of charge through online calls for
submissions for articles for thematic issues and thematic dossiers.
After submission, the article undergoes prior evaluation by the Editors, who observe the adequacy of the journal's submission guidelines. Once its originality, conformity with the editorial lines of the journal and adopted qualitative criteria are verified, the article will be sent to the peer-review process in which ad hoc reviewers can accept, refuse or suggest changes.
All submissions should be consistent with the focus and scope of the journal.
Submissions that fall outside this scope will be returned to the authors.
Article submissions should comply with the following criteria:
Manuscripts may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French.
The header should contain the title of the article without any identification of the author, in order to preserve the peer-review process;
All information should be filled out in the metadata field of the OJS system.
1. Author (insert in appropriate field)
a. Use upper- and lower-case letters. Do not use any title (e.g., Dr., Prof.).
2. Title (insert in appropriate field)
Use bold throughout the title and capital letter only in the first word.
Maximum of 85 characters per title.
N.B. For submissions in English, include only the title in English .
3. ABSTRACT and KEYWORDS (insert in the “abstract” field)
N.B. For submissions in English, include only the abstract and keywords in English.
Abstract:
Use Arial 12 with single line spacing.
Maximum of 200 words.
Keywords (in the same field, beneath the abstract):
Include three to five keywords.
Capitalize the first letter of each word.
Separate the keywords with a full stop.

Guidelines for article submissions
1. Manuscript
Manuscripts should be between 4,000 and 8,000 words long, including references,
which should be in a list at the end of the text.
Use Arial 12, 1.5 spacing, and justify the text.
Use italics for foreign words only.
Use bold for subtitles, which should be written in sentence case in Arial 12.
Citations
In-text citations:
Up to three lines long: Incorporate into the paragraph and enclose between
double quotation marks, followed by: (author’s last name, year, p.).
More than three lines long: Use a block quotation indented 4 cm from the left
margin, Arial 11, single spacing, followed by: (author’s last name, year, p.).
Indirect citations:
Incorporate into the paragraph, followed by: (author’s last name, year)
Note: Author's last name with capital initial only.
Footnotes
Include footnotes for explanatory purposes only;
Use Arial 9, single spacing.
Images and Figures
Submissions may include up to eight images, which must be in JPG format, 300 dpi;
Images and figures must be submitted in separate files identified with the
corresponding number in the body of the text;
Legends of images and figures must be included at the appropriate point in the body of the text;
For references of images and figures:
in the case of an artwork – author, title, year, dimensions, photo credits, source,
name of collection or archive (if digital, include URL); in other cases – title,
credits, source, name of collection or archive (if digital, include URL).

References
References must:
be formatted in Arial 11, single spacing;
be listed in a section at the end of the manuscript;
contain complete data as required by an appropriate citation standard (e.g. APA,
Chicago, Vancouver, etc.);
start each reference on a new line and separate it from the previous reference by two “enters” (one single space);
References include any and all material consulted in a single listing entered
by the author's last name in capital letters, in alphabetical order; in cases of
more than one work by the same author, repeat the last name and list from
the most recent to the oldest; in case of coincidence in the year of the works,
list them in alphabetical order, adding letters after the year.
Titles of books and periodicals are in italics; book chapters, articles,
documents, correspondence are not in italics.
In the case of books, the title city of edition, publisher and year are followed;
in case of book chapters, follow In: SURNAME, Author's name. Book's title.
City: Publisher, year. In the case of articles, the name of the journal, city,
volume (v.), number (n.), page range (33-55) and year follow the title.

 Palavras-chave em língua estrangeira (Palabras clave, Mots-clés, ou Keywords): Fonte Arial, corpo 12. Mínimo de 03 (três) palavras e máximo de

05 (cinco) palavras).Utilizar maiúscula na primeira letra de cada palavra e ponto depois de cada palavra-chave.

 Corpo do artigo: Texto redigido em fonte Arial, em corpo 12, com espaçamento 1,5 entre as linhas, e margens justificadas com no mínimo 4.000 palavras e o máximo de 8.000 palavras incluindo as referências ao final do texto, incluindo referências bibliográficas e tabelas.

 Para destaques, usar apenas o corpo itálico (grifo), excluindo-se totalmente o sublinhado e palavras em caixa-alta (a não ser em siglas que não formem palavras, exemplo CNPq) e, nas referências bibliográficas, nos sobrenomes dos autores. O negrito poderá ser usado, exclusivamente, para destacar os subtítulos ou divisões do trabalho, sempre no mesmo corpo 12 e apenas a inicial da primeira palavra maiúscula.

 Citações: As citações diretas no texto, de até três linhas, devem estar contidas entre aspas duplas. As citações de mais de 3 linhas devem ser digitadas em corpo 11, com espaçamento simples entre as linhas e destacadas do texto por margem esquerda de 4 cm. As citações deverão ser identificadas no texto pelo sistema (Autor, ano, p.)

 Notas de rodapé deverão ser redigidas em fonte Arial, corpo 9, e espaçamento simples entre as linhas. Deverão ser explicativas e não contemplar referências, usando o mesmo sistema (Autor, ano, p.) para identificar autoria.

 Figuras e ilustrações: Poderão ser enviadas, em arquivos separados, até 8 (oito) imagens, em formato JPG, com 300 dpi, sendo o seu local de inserção no texto indicado por meio de legendas cuja numeração corresponda à numeração dos arquivos das imagens.

 Referências: Fonte Arial, corpo 11 (onze), espaçamento simples entre as linhas. As referências, no fim do trabalho, devem incluir em listagem única todo e qualquer material mencionado no texto. Cada referência deve ocupar um parágrafo e deve estar separada da anterior/seguinte por dois espaços simples.

DETALHAMENTO SOBRE FORMATAÇÃO DE IMAGENS

1. A revista não se responsabiliza pela obtenção do copyright de imagens;

2. Os autores devem providenciar as imagens que queiram incluir em seus textos;

3. Os autores devem fornecer as legendas das imagens, assim como indicar a posição em que devem aparecer no corpo do texto entre parênteses (fig.x). A revista se reserva o direito de não publicar imagens sem a qualidade necessária para sua correta impressão;

4. As legendas de imagens incluídas ao longo do texto devem seguir o seguinte padrão:

Fig. (número em ordem crescente). Autor, Título em itálico, ano. Técnica, dimensões em cm, Localização (nome de museu, coleção etc., se houver), cidade (se houver).

5. As imagens devem estar em jpeg ou tiff e ter 300 dpi (dimensões aproximadas de 17 x 24 cm, proporção que pode variar de acordo com a imagem).

OBS.: a plataforma só aceita arquivos até 2 G.

6. Para a versão digital da revista é possível o envio de imagens coloridas. Caso seja produzida a versão impressa será feita a conversão para PB (grayscale);

7. Todas as imagens, seguindo as especificações indicadas acima, devem ser anexadas no momento de submissão como “documento suplementarg na plataforma OJS.

Tradução

PARA TRADUÇÕES

Aceitam-se traduções de textos de artistas ou teóricos que não tenham sido publicados em português e que sejam relevantes para a discussão crítica em torno das artes.

As contribuições devem vir acompanhadas de autorização do autor e do original do texto. No mais, devem seguir as normas de apresentação dos artigos.

Todas as traduções submetidas à revista arte e ensaios serão avaliadas pelos editores e, caso aprovadas, passarão por revisão técnica indicada pela comissão editorial da revista.

Resenha

RESENHAS

As resenhas, cujo critério principal é atualidade do tema (no máximo 1 ano para publicações e 6 meses para exposições), devem atender aos seguintes requisitos:

a)  texto de no máximo 5500 caracteres com espaços; sem indentar parágrafos, que devem ser indicados por linha em branco;

b)  dados do livro resenhado (título, autor, cidade, editora e ano) ou da exposição/obra (título, local, cidade e datas de inauguração e término);

c)  citações de até duas linhas, no corpo do texto, em fonte normal e entre aspas; com mais de duas linhas, recuadas, em itálico, sem aspas.
