Abstract

Produced in the context of Western modernity, the concept of landscape often serves as a re-nexus between nature and culture, challenging the very foundations of the modern paradigm. This essay explores the malleability of the landscapeconcept, proposing political updates that are relevant in today’s context, particularly from the perspective of the Global South. The ideas put forth by Bruno Latour, Nego Bispo, Denise Ferreira da Silva, Luiz Rufino and other intellectuals are introduced to enrich the debate and help us understand the environments shaped by the colonization and globalization of capitalism. These ideas shed light on the need to confront the challenges heralded by the Anthropocene era, as well as the historical social struggles revolving around contested territories.
