Abstract

This paper proposes a critical reflection on art teaching methods in institutions and some of the factors that involve the role of the artist-educator in this context.. The research considers the studio a space for the construction of knowledge, capable of provoking signifi cant experiences. As an alternative to conventional practices, a restructuring of the field of art education inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach is proposed, which, according to Vea Vecchi, values listening, experimentation and the active participation of learners. In this scenario, the concepts of “school-studio” and “museum-school” are presented as living environments for creation and reflection, often mediated by the figure of the “atelierista.” Finally, the concept of the artist-educator is developed, defending a sensitive, critical educa tion committed to social transformation through art.
