Abstract

The article examines the appropriation of the postcard by contemporary artists, considering its specific characteristics as a multiple and as an ephemeral printed object. After a brief historical overview of the emergence and circulation of postcards, it analyzes artworks that employ this format through collection and appropriation. Drawing on the work of Georg Simmel, Walter Benjamin, and Georges Didi-Huberman, the article proposes understanding the postcard as a form of ruin, capable of bringing together different temporalities while preserving traces of past uses, memories, and experiences.
