Indícios de Variações Climáticas Neo-quaternárias no Médio Vale do Rio Doce

Resumo

A tentative stratigraphy for the Upper Quaternary events in the Jacaré lake area, middle rio Doce basin, was obtained through the analysis of bore-hole samples. The deposition of a thick sequence of slope deposits was interrupted at the beginning of the Holocene (9.840 220 years B.P.) bya transgression of the lake waters. This submersion is thought to be contemporaneous to the expansion of the rainforest over teh area. Morerecent fluctuations of the lake level seem to denounce variations in thehydrologic budget.
