SOU GORDO, SOU ANORMAL?

Resumo

A pergunta que motivou esse trabalho é: Seria o gordo (o obeso) Anormal? Procuramos elaborar uma discussão a fim de evidenciar que o gordo não é anormal. Por fim, faremos algumas considerações tentando relacionar esse controle do sobrepeso e da obesidade, no século XX, com a introdução de uma nova tecnologia de poder que Foucault chamou de “Biopolítica”. É pertinente pensar que além de diversos mecanismos reguladores citados por Foucault, também há, a partir do século XX, o controle da massa corporal que se estende à população e às massas. Daí o combate a obesidade ter se tornado uma biopolítica, na medida em que a vida, efetivamente, se tornou uma preocupação política. O corpo gordo passa a ser visto como um corpo marcado pela falência moral, e que, portanto, deve ser corrigido, a fim de valorizar a vida.

I AM FAT, I AM ABNORMAL?

Abstract: The question that motivated that paper is: Would the fat person be (the obese) Abnormal? We tried to elaborate a discussion in order to evidence that the fat is not abnormal. Finally, we will make some considerations trying to relate that control of the overweight and of the obesity, in the XX century, with the introduction of a new technology of power that Foucault called "Biopolític". It is pertinent to think that besides several regulators mechanisms mentioned by Foucault, there is also, starting from the XX century, the control of the corporal mass that extends to the population and the masses. Because of that, the combat to the obesity become a biopolitic, in the same way that the life, indeed, turned itiself into a political concern. The fat body passes to be seen as a body marked by the moral failure, and that, therefore, it should be corrected, in order to value the life.
