Abstract

A taxonomic study of Asclepiadoideae (Apocynaceae) species found at the Restinga de Jurubatiba National Park, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, revealed that there are nine genera and twelve taxa: Asclepias mellodora A.St.- Hil., Ditassa banksii Schult., Funastrum clausum (Jacq.)Schltr., Marsdenia dorothyae Fontella & Morillo, Matelea maritima subsp. ganglinosa (Vell.)Fontella, Orthosia arenosa Decne., Oxypetalum alpinum var. alpinum (Vell.)Fontella & E.A.Schwarz, Oxypetalum banksii Schult. subsp. banksii, Oxypetalum banksii Schult. subsp. corymbiferum (E.Fourn.)Fontella & C.Valente, Peplonia asteria (Vell.)Fontella & E.A.Schwarz, Peplonia axillaris(Vell.)Fontella & Rapini, and Tassadia propinqua Decne. The taxa are described, an identification key is given, together with geographic distribution, illustrations and comments on each species.
