Abstract

A taxonomic study of Amaranthaceae species found at the Restinga de Jurubatiba National Park, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, revealed that there are three genera and four species: Alternanthera brasiliana var. villosa (Moq.) Kuntze, Alternanthera littoralis var. maritima (Mart.) Pedersen, Blutaparon portulacoides (A. St.-Hil) Mears, and Gomphrena celosioides Mart. The species are described, an identification key is given, together with geographic distribution, illustrations and comments on each species.
