Abstract

Two hundred and seven species of lycaenids (Theclinae and Polyommatinae) are currently known from the Rio de Janeiro State. These records were compiled from entomological collections and the scientific literature. The municipalities in which each species occurs are listed. Some parts of Rio de Janeiro State, especially the northwest, are poorly documented and are in immediate need of intensive sampling before remnant forest is destroyed.
