Hydrophilidae (Insecta, Coleoptera) from Rio de Janeiro State, Brasil: list of species and new records

Abstract

A preliminary list of the species of Hydrophilidae with record of occurrence in Rio de Janeiro State is presented. The list was prepared based on a survey of the literature and material deposited in three entomological collections: Departamento de Zoologia (DZRJ) and Museu Nacional (MNRJ), at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and Museu de Zoologia at Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP). A total of 45 species, including three new records from the state was listed. When possible, informations about the distribution of each species in the municipalities of the Rio de Janeiro State are given.
