Elmidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from Rio de Janeiro State: list of species and new records

Abstract

A list of the species of Elmidae from Rio de Janeiro State, southeastern Brazil, is presented. The list was prepared with basis on a refined survey of the literature and examination of entomological collection, located on Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, in Departamento de Zoologia (DZRJ), including 13 species, with seven new occurrences from the State. Reports about species bibliography contents were also included as available municipalities species distributional data. The vast majority of species registered here are from Atlantic Forest of Brazil, which is in high fragmentation process, generally of incidental collections.
