Aquatic plants from the garden of Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

A floristic inventory of aquatic plants from the garden of National Museum, Rio de Janeiro was made. The botanical vouchers were collected, dried and identified by tradicional methodology. The specimens were deposited in the National Museum herbarium (R). Twenty two families, 32 genera and 36 species were found. Cyperaceae was the most common, represented by four species. Between the biological forms present emergent/ amphibious was most common (88%). Identification keys, illustrations, a table with species, biological forms and popular names, as well as a map indicating species locations are included.
