New species of Chiasmocleis Méhelÿ, 1904 (Amphibia, Anura, Microhylidae) from the Mantiqueira mountain range, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Abstract

A new species of the genus Chiasmocleis Méhelÿ, 1904 is described from an Atlantic Rain Forest patch in Mantiqueira mountain range, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Chiasmocleis mantiqueira sp.nov. belongs to the species group with well developed webbing on the feet. The referred species group currently comprises C. capixaba, C. cordeiroi, C. crucis, and C. leucosticta. The new species is separated from them by presenting white ventral region with dark brown blotches and by a short distance from eye to nostril.
