Abstract

The Pimenteira Formation, Lower Devonian sequence of the Parnaíba Basin, has a very important ichnofossiliferous record. In the outcrop located at the km 814 of Belém-Brasília Road (BR-153) in the State of Tocantins, were identified the ichnofossils Bifungites isp., Nereites cf. N. missouriensis (Weller, 1899), Rusophycus polonica (Seilacher, 1970), and Trichophycus isp., associated with the pseudoichnofossil “Guilielmites”. The presence of Nereites cf. N. missouriensis, R. polonica, and Trichophycus isp. in the Pimenteira Formation comprises the first occurrence of these ichnotaxa in Brazil.
