Esencias individuales e identidad primitiva

Abstract

O trabalho discute se é necessário postular uma identidade primitiva como constituinte de essências individuais. Em primeiro lugar, oferece-se uma formulação precisa dos conceitos de "essência individual", "isto-idade" (Thisness) e identidade primitiva. Em segundo lugar, são discutidos de maneira crua os argumentos tradicionais para rejeição do princípio da identidade dos indiscerníveis. Na terceira parte, fi nalmente, considera-se a conexão que poderia ter a questão sobre a existência de uma "isto-idade" com a necessidade de origem.

Abstract

The work discusses if it is necessary to postulate a primitive identity as a constituent of individual essences. First, a precise formulation of the concepts of individual essence, thisness and primitive identity is presented. Second, the traditional argument for the rejection of the identity of indiscernibles principle is roughly discussed. And in the third part, it is discussed the connection that the issue of a thisness may have with the necessity of origin.
