Nietzsche e o Gesamtkunstwerk wagneriano
Abstract
Abstract
The idea of a unified work of art, a Gesamtkunstwerk, as it was worked out in Richard Wagner´s aesthetics, is appropriated by Nietzsche within his project of recasting German Culture during his first years as Professor in Basel University. This appropriation, however, soon revealed itself as problematic, inasmuch as concepts and values it presupposes seem to sometimes oppose Nietzsche´s philosophy and Wagner´s aesthetics. The aim of this paper is to describe and discuss the efforts that were taken in this interpretation and its dilemmas -- that, all in all, ended up in their mutual break up.
