The patrimonial value of printed photography as a discursive field of Portugal’s MetaImage(1934-1948)

The paper reflects on the possible heritage value of the print photography as an image that demonstrates and testifies the construction of a image (MetaImage) of Portugal in the “Estado Novo”. The paper is developed through the analysis of the use of photography as a propaganda instrument of the “Estado Novo” action in the conservation and restoration of national monuments and of the use of photomontage in the Portuguese Pavillon of the Paris Exhibition of 1937.
