Résumé

The UFRJ Graduate Program in Music was launched in 1980 as a result of the work of a group of professors first coordinated by Hélcio Benevides Soares. Since then this Program has guaranteed a continuous and systematic connection between teaching activities for postgraduates, and also artistic and research activities. From the beginning the Program has been offering Master of Arts degrees and by now has already given the title of Master for 283 students. It is now preparing to offer a PhD program in Music, to be accessible in 2008.
