Keywords:

In the early 1960's, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo, while revamping its guideline, added Industrial Design and Visual Communication to the curriculum. The discipline Industrial Design has already been studied and recorded, but Visual Communication has not. Aiming at the historic rescue of the exercises given and the didactic employed in these disciplines, we interviewed former teachers and former students and analyzed some available documents of the period. We concluded that the Visual Communication Sequence´s exercises and classes provided to the trainees the development of technical and creative skills. The result was that graduates during this period had included Visual Communication in their field of expertise, applications in graphic design projects of any size or in architectural and urban planning projects.Downloads
