Abstract

In the period 2002-2012, emerged an unprecedented stylized factor: the average rate of growth in developing countries exceeded 5% compared to developed countries. The purpose of this article is to outline some arguments of the hypothesis decoupling of the economic growth, from the perspective of the classical surplus approach in order to verify if this pattern is reproduced in the larger countries of Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia e Mexico. We conclude that the exceptionally favorable international economic conditions associated with China constituting a dynamic capitalist pole, allowed increasing trend of growth and significant improvement in macroeconomic management in these countries.
