Résumé

This article studies the borrowing of several elements from the ancient Egyptian civilization, its using and adaptation for other purposes in Brazil. Honório Esteves' painting: "Egyptian Shepherd", the winged human figures of the Egyptian House anda Pyramid tomb, in Rio de Janeiro, the breasted Egyptian sphinx of the Public Library, in Porto Alegre, the decoration of the Faraó's Motel, in São Paulo and
the poster of an Egyptian exhibition in Brazil, are good examples of this practice.
