Abstract

This article is an excerpt from a doctoral research project that aims to analyze the functioning of language during the military regime, specifically in the case of Zuzu Angel. The specific objectives we intend to: analyze the letter sent to President General Ernesto Geisel and a statement sent to friends. The theoretical and methodological basis of this work is French Discourse Analysis (DA) based on Michel Pêcheux, Eni Orlandi, Tania Souza and others. Several DA devices provide support for this investigation, such as: conditions of production, subject position, ideology, meaning, discursive formation, memory. As part of the results of the investigation that asks who Zuzu is, we point out that Zuzu was a persona non grata for the State that killed; for society, Angel is a warrior mother and martyr mother, honored by the democratic State that recognizes her guilt; thus, Zuzu is a woman with many faces immortalized in songs that recall a dark Brazil, without freedom of expression.
